Quality-control guide
QC is most useful when it proves the condition and function of the exact watch. A beautiful catalogue image is not a substitute for centred, current and complete evidence.
Request the evidence in a fixed order
- One straight-on dial image with the watch level and the camera centred.
- Both case sides, crown, pushers and the full case profile.
- Bracelet or strap from the top and underside, including end links and clasp.
- Dial and date under neutral light, plus a second light source for colour-sensitive dials.
- A continuous function video with no cuts through the relevant setting sequence.
- Timing or pressure-test evidence only when the seller states the test conditions.
Visual checklist
- Dial is centred and not judged from a tilted camera
- Applied markers align with the minute track
- Hands clear one another and the dial furniture
- Date print is centred on single and double digits
- Bezel triangle or scale aligns with the dial
- Rehaut and chapter-ring alignment are checked around the full dial
- Crown, guards and pushers are symmetrical for the reference
- Bracelet end links sit evenly without a visible gap on one side
- Clasp closes, locks and releases correctly
- Scratches are separated from protective-film marks
Function checklist by complication
| Complication | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Date | Quickset operation and more than one date value. |
| Day-Date | Day and date change, with both apertures centred. |
| GMT | Local-hour setting, GMT-hand travel and date behaviour. |
| Chronograph | Start, stop and reset in one continuous video; hands return to zero. |
| Rotating bezel | Full rotation, alignment and a check for abnormal vertical play. |
Red flags
Pause when the evidence uses only promotional images, hides the sides of the watch, cuts the function video, refuses a second date value, or presents a test result without showing the watch and test conditions. None of those automatically proves a defect, but each weakens the evidence.
Sources and evidence boundary
This guide was reviewed on 19 September 2026. Factory and batch observations are community- or supplier-reported unless explicitly attributed to an official manufacturer specification. They should be reconfirmed against the exact unit and current QC evidence.
Compare a specific model
Use the catalogue review for the exact reference, then request current factory, movement and QC evidence.
